Aquilla

Year 2 university project

Aquilla is a 3D character I sculpted, textured and rigged.
Created for a second year project , which was an introduction to ZBrush and Advanced Skeleton.


The aim was to create a character of choice from an existing concept. The concept I chose was from an artist by the name of "lupinemoonfeather" I found on DeviantArt. I wanted to create something slightly more outstanding than a human character, therefore I chose this gryphon.

The process began with ZBrush by appending external reference images and carefully admiring the original concept, I was able to slowly build up the shapes.

The texturing process took place within ZBrush's polypaint tools.

Additionally, I took the same character for a year 3 industry project to explore Substance Painter's features by creating a couple of texture variations, different from the original.
